Twisted Innocence at Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

Lorenzo Serafini offset 1950s sweetness with Mod rebellion to charming, if rather predictable effect.

MILAN, Italy — Women and their personalities are high on the designer's agenda this season. It's all about glorifying the glorious incongruities of womanhood. Lorenzo Serafini joined the bandwagon with his Philosophy show tonight. He offset sweetness and romanticism — of the Fifties kind: big skirts and pastel hues — with Mod rebellion — spiky shoes, kitten heels and lots of leather.

The effect was a charming if rather predictable take on twisted innocence. Styling tricks of this kind are not exactly new. To his advantage, Serafini has a wonderful hand with flou and romantic: he always manages to keep things light and nor too sugary. Still, he seems to be stuck in a territory that's not moving forward that much. He has the talent to test new waters. Or maybe he should try a new stylist to get a new edit on the recipe.
