LONDON, United Kingdom — Creative director Delphine Ninous continues to bring a sensual slant to Belstaff's own brand of biker chic. They own the formula, after all. This season she took inspiration from Augusta and Adeline Van Buren, two sisters who exactly 100 years ago donned leather breeches and traveled by motorbike across the continental USA to join the army as dispatch riders, proving that women could serve in the role.
The collection felt suitably sturdy, pragmatic and protective, just as a ride across a continent would require. Ninous, however, has a light hand: she knows how to please and court a woman's body. Her biker gear and robust outerwear never feels hard or masculine. On the contrary, it has a soft and decidedly seductive quality.
