Susana Barbosa
Publisher & Editorial Director, Elle Brazil
Championing cosmopolitan perspectives and progressive values, the fashion media veteran has revived the Brazilian edition of Elle magazine.

Susana Barbosa is the publisher and editorial director of the Brazilian edition of Elle. Barbosa achieved the rare feat of bringing back to life a publication that had been discontinued. In 2019, she was charged with relaunching the magazine after it went on a two-year hiatus. By championing cosmopolitan perspectives, progressive values and agenda-setting content in a more collectible quarterly format, Barbosa reversed the magazine’s fortunes. She also introduced special editions such as Elle Men, Elle Beauté, Elle Decoration and Elle à Table and a digital format called Elle View.
By 2024, the magazine had attracted a following of more than a million people on its Instagram account. Prior to taking on the relaunch of Elle Brazil, Barbosa held several positions at the title during an earlier chapter. She joined the publication in 2000, becoming fashion editor in 2007, fashion director in 2010 and then editor-in-chief three years later. Born in the state of Minas Gerais, Barbosa studied advertising in Rio de Janeiro before shifting to a career in fashion media.
