The Victoria’s Secret Angel quickly transitioned to the high fashion catwalks after capitalising on her association with the lingerie brand, her 4.5-million strong Instagram following and her close links with It girls like the Hadid sisters, Hailey Baldwin, Miley Cyrus, and most recently Kristen Stewart. Her blonde bombshell aesthetic landed her the top spot of Maxim’s Hot 100 list in 2016.

In 2016, the Victoria’s Secret Angel was the face of Max Factor, and has fronted campaigns for high-fashion brands like Roberto Cavalli and Jeremy Scott , as well as fast-fashion giants including Topshop, H&M and River Island. She also fronted The Kooples SS19 collection with former Victoria's Secret Angel Irina Shayk, with whom she co-created the Stella and Irina handbags for the brand’s AW18 collection.

She first modelled for Victoria’s Secret in 2011, appearing in a swimwear campaign alongside Barbara Palvin, Karlie Kloss and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and later walked in the lingerie brand’s annual catwalk show in 2014. It was when she became an Victoria’s Secret Angel the following summer, though, that her high-fashion catwalk career took off: come fashion month, she was cast in a number of high profile shows, walking for the likes of Chanel, Balmain, Versace, Fendi, Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger .

Maxwell has publicly identified as queer, and has been romantically linked to Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart. She is close friends with fellow models Bella and Gigi Hadid , Barbara Palvin and Hailey Baldwin, as well as Lily-Rose Depp .
