Silvia Tcherassi
Founder & Creative Director, Silvia Tcherassi, SVT Designs Inc
The Colombian-born creative director has built an impressive luxury business, spanning womenswear to hotels, with a vibrant Caribbean-Latin American twist.

Silvia Tcherassi is a renowned Colombian fashion designer and founder of her eponymous luxury brand, celebrated for its sculptural, feminine silhouettes that fuse Latin American vibrancy with refined international elegance. A pioneer in globalising Latin American fashion, she was one of the first designers from the region to show at Milan Fashion Week in 2003 and received France’s prestigious Officier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2004 for her contributions to the industry.
Originally trained as an interior designer, Tcherassi launched her fashion label in 1987 alongside her mother, Vera. Today, the brand is a family-led business, with her children Sofia and Mauricio helping to shape its modern direction. Tcherassi has presented collections at New York Fashion Week, including Spring/Summer 2025, and is known for thoughtful, purpose-driven initiatives, like her Spring/Summer 2022 charity runway in Punta Cana benefitting Save the Children. Her designs, available through top retailers like Farfetch, Net-a-Porter, and Yoox, have helped position Colombian fashion on the global luxury map.
Beyond the runway, Tcherassi is also the creative force behind Tcherassi Hotels. Her flagship property in Cartagena, Tcherassi Hotel + Spa, has earned accolades from Condé Nast Traveler as one of the world’s best. With 11 brick-and-mortar boutiques worldwide — accounting for 65 percent of sales as of late 2024 — the brand maintains a strong retail footprint. Influenced by icons like Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta, Tcherassi continues to craft a legacy that blends artistry, business acumen, and cultural pride, solidifying her as a key figure in the global fashion conversation.
