Recho Omondi is the host and creator of the  fashion podcast “The Cutting Room Floor” (TCRF). Omondi has become a force in fashion, known for her forthright interview style built to draw out candid insights from fashion’s movers and shakers. 

After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Omondi began her career in retail at Barneys before working as a pattern-maker for Calvin Klein and Theory. In 2013, she launched her own fashion label, Omondi, which gained critical acclaim for its colour-rich knitwear and viral “customised” pullovers. Driven by a need to challenge the historical insulation of traditional fashion media, Omondi launched “The Cutting Room Floor” in 2018. She made the strategic decision to shutter her design label in 2020 to focus entirely on building a media platform that prioritises creative autonomy through a listener-supported Patreon model.

The podcast, billed as “fashion’s only fashion show,” has evolved into a multi-channel media operation. In 2024, Omondi expanded into video-first content, significantly growing her influence across YouTube and TikTok. Recent landmark episodes include a viral May 2025 interview with Steve Madden, which interrogated federal trade policies and personal accountability, and an August 2025 deep-dive with Gwyneth Paltrow. In June 2025, she further solidified her cultural standing by moderating the debut of Instagram’s “Ask It Anyway” series featuring Tyler, the Creator.

Omondi's ability to dive head-first into controversial topics — like critiquing luxury conglomerates and “fashion nepo babies” —  and her unapologetic approach have made her an influential voice in fashion media. She stands out as someone who sparks meaningful and impactful fashion dialogue.
