Rachel Tashjian

Rachel Tashjian is a fashion writer for The Washington Post's Style section, known for her distinctive voice blending fashion with politics, social media and pop culture. She’s also the creator of “invitation-only” newsletter Opulent Tips, which has developed a cult following for its chatty tone, screwball interviews and pearls of fashion knowledge.  

Tashjian graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English and art history. Before joining The Washington Post, she was the fashion news director at Harper's Bazaar, where she profiled leading designers like Miuccia Prada and Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri . Prior to that, she was GQ’s first fashion critic, turning her pen to subjects ranging from the evolution of streetwear to the fashion diplomacy of the Bidens, the British Royals and the Trump administration. 

Tashjian’s writing portfolio extends to renowned publications such as Artforum, Bookforum, and New York Magazine. She was nominated for an ASME for her reviews and criticism in 2023.
