Pieter Mulier
Chief Creative Officer, Versace
The incoming creative director of Versace was previously at the helm Alaïa, as well as Raf Simons’ right-hand man at Jil Sander and at Dior.

Pieter Mulier is the chief creative officer of Versace, a role confirmed in February 2026 following the house’s acquisition by the Prada Group. Mulier is set to lead the creative direction of the brand effective 1 July 2026. The former creative director of Maison Alaïa was also at the helm of Calvin Klein, where he served as Raf Simons’ longstanding right-hand man, tasked with executing the designer’s vision for the iconic American brand. In 2018, when Simons departed Calvin Klein, Mulier also exited the organisation.
Belgian-born Mulier studied architecture at the Brussels Institut Saint-Luc and was subsequently invited by Simons to complete an internship at his namesake label, before returning in 2002 as senior head designer to lead the creative team. He followed Simons to Jil Sander in 2006, where he became the director of accessories. In 2012, when his mentor invited him to join Dior, Mulier joined the atelier of the historic Parisian couture house, assisting Simons as the primary link between the designer and the studio staff. His role was highlighted in Frédéric Tcheng’s documentary “Dior and I,” which illustrated Mulier’s position as the essential liaison between Simons and the artisans.
When Simons moved to lead Calvin Klein in 2016, Mulier was appointed creative director, charged with managing the design teams. Their debut collection for the Autumn/Winter 2017 season received critical acclaim; Mulier took a bow alongside Simons at the close of the show.
Mulier was appointed creative director of Maison Alaïa in February 2021, becoming the first individual to succeed house founder Azzedine Alaïa. His five-year tenure brought the French label back to the centre of the global fashion conversation while doubling the brand's business and establishing a highly successful accessories line. Sell-out hits included the elongated “Le Teckel” handbag and mesh ballet flats. In November 2025, he was awarded the International Designer of the Year prize at the CFDA Fashion Awards in recognition of his transformative work at the house. On 30 January 2026, Alaïa announced Mulier would step down from the role, with his final collection presented in March 2026.
