Malick Bodian

Malick Bodian is a model and photographer. He’s been the face of campaigns for Dior Homme, Givenchy, Valentino and Louis Vuitton, and became the first Black male model to walk in a Givenchy Couture show in 2020.

Raised in Senegal, Bodian moved to Europe at age 13 and was scouted by an agent in Corsica at 19. After walking in his first show — Valentino Fall/Winter 2018 — Bodian’s career took off. He has since walked for Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela and been in campaigns for Dior, Hugo Boss and Ferragamo.

He has also moved behind the camera, having started to experiment with photography, initially influenced by French artist Jean-Paul Goude, best known for collaborations with model and singer Grace Jones. While taking self-portraits and documenting his travels, he has gone on to shoot for Vogue, Odda and GQ. In April 2022, he shot Grace Wales Bonner ’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Volta Jazz, on the streets of Ghana’s capital, Accra —  drawing inspiration from 1970s West African studio portraiture.
