Laurie Parsons is reader in human geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. His work explores the nexus of climate change and the global economy, focusing on how everyday objects like garments, bricks and other goods connect environmental impacts around the world. He is the author of three books: Going Nowhere Fast (2020), Climate Change in the Global Workplace (2021), and Carbon Colonialism (2023), as well as numerous papers and reports highlighting how the global factory hides and exacerbates the impact of climate change, especially in the global South.
His awards for this work include the 2020 Times Higher Education award for Research Project of the Year, and the 2024 Association of American Publishers award for book of the year in Economics.
