Karla Martinez
Head of Content, Vogue Mexico & Vogue Latin America
The experienced editor is bringing a more nuanced approach to Condé Nast’s coverage of the Latin American market.

Karla Martinez is the head of content of Vogue Mexico and Vogue Latin America.
Martinez took on her post at Vogue just over a month after joining the team as associate editor, which was part of a wider strategy to make the separate editions more accessible to readers across Latin American markets. Since Martinez began her role, Vogue Mexico and Latin America has had a huge growth in digital traffic, becoming one of the top five in traffic for wholly owned and operated Vogue magazines.
“We all speak Spanish but we’re very different culturally, so one of my biggest challenges is to be sure that we’re speaking to these different countries,” she told BoF. “Especially now that the Latin American region has really come into its own in terms of local fashion.”
After studying at the University of Arizona, Martinez moved to New York, interning for different fashion companies before landing her first position. Prior to Vogue, she held the role of fashion market and accessories director of W magazine, as well as doing stints at Vogue, Elle, Interview and T Magazine.
In 2010, Martinez was a part of a group that started “Project Paz”, a charity that fundraises to support young victims affected by drug-related violence in Mexico. To date, the organisation has helped over 6000 children.
