Jérôme Mage is the founder and creative director of Jacques Marie Mage, a Los Angeles–based luxury eyewear brand. He is celebrated for reimagining glasses as collectible art objects, fusing deep historical storytelling with Japanese craftsmanship to create frames with lasting value.
Mage launched his design studio in 2001. His work spanned eyewear for a variety of sports labels from snowboarding to fishing, sharpening his tactile sensibility. He founded Jacques Marie Mage in 2015, shifting to limited-run, sculptural acetate frames inspired by archival designs (often from the 1970s) and associated cultural references.
Mage is known for a hands-on approach to design and manufacturing, sourcing vintage equipment from Japan, overseeing the 150-step hand‑polishing process and personally directing materials and shape development. He describes his work as a curatorial, even soulful, pursuit.
His frames have attracted a cult following among celebrities — Jeff Goldblum, Rihanna, Daniel Craig and LeBron James — as well as collectors who prize the brand’s rarity and emotional value. Notably, his collaborations with Jeremy Strong and Jeff Goldblum highlight ongoing innovation and deep respect for narrative craftsmanship.
