Emmanuelle Alt
Former Editor-in-Chief, Vogue Paris
A fashion figure synonymous with pared-back Parisian chic, the current editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris has brought a fresh, more feminine perspective to the title.

With her clean minimalist ensembles, Emmanuelle Alt's personal style in many ways embodies Parisienne chic. Alt was appointed editor of Vogue Paris in 2011, promoted from her role as fashion director, taking the helm from provocative figure Carine Roitfeld . Her time running the magazine has seen its creative output slightly change tack, she told The New York Times, “I think you can make very strong fashion pictures without shocking." However, the Frenchwoman stressed, “I don’t think there should be radical changes.”
The editor still aims to style one shoot a month, telling The Daily Telegraph, "I will try even more to support young designers. I like to keep my curiosity up. The industry is always waiting, begging for a name. But it is rare to find a big trésor, so you must keep looking."
Alt discovered fashion aged 19 at a Jean-Paul Gaultier show she attended with her mother, a model for Nina Ricci and Lanvin in the 60s and 70s (incidentally Alt’s favourite period in fashion) and her greatest inspiration. When asked if she would have liked to have followed in her mother’s footsteps, Alt told The Daily Telegraph, "That's not me. I'm a big fan of photography, but it's more fun to style. I enjoy working on the inspiration, and the everyday life of a magazine."
Prior to her time at Vogue Paris, Alt held roles at French Elle, 20ans and Mixte. Outside of work she is devoted mother to her children, with long-term partner Franck Durand , Isabel Marant ’s art director, and is passionate about driving fast cars.
Alt also presides on the committee of 60-plus international experts for the LVMH Prize.
In 2021, Alt stepped down from her role at Vogue Paris.
