Dirk Standen
Digital Creative Director, W Magazine
The former editor in chief of Style.com is a highly regarded fashion writer and currently the dean of fashion at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Dirk Standen is renowned for his role as the editor-in-chief of the new defunct Style.com and his role as the digital creative director at W Magazine, where he worked closely with the publication’s editor Stefano Tonchi , overseeing digital strategy. When Condé Nast debuted its creative agency, 23 Stories in early 2015, Standen was quickly recruited from W to join the agency as its new editor-in-chief. Established to produce content for Condé Nast’s range of titles, Standen led the creative agency with his close links to Condé Nast until leaving the role in 2018 and founding his own digital agency, DS Digital the following year. Since 2022, Standen has led SCAD's undergraduate and graduate degree fashion programs as the dean of the school of fashion, teaching 400-level courses with a focus on the future of fashion and retail.
During his longtime tenure as editor-in-chief of Style.com, Standen established the Condé Nast-owned media brand as the most popular industry and consumer destination for show imagery, now in real-time, as well as introducing new content streams and overseeing the media brand’s expansion into print.
Style.com was an early up taker of the street style phenomenon, retaining two of its earliest proponents, Scott Schuman and Tommy Ton , driving considerable traffic to the site, and raising their industry profiles all the while. The site has also experimented with ‘instant gratification,’ its term for e-tail partnerships with designers.
Standen has contributed to GQ, Details, Tatler, Food & Wine, and The New York Observer. Standen joined Condé Nast Digital in 2003 as Deputy Editor. He has won the Magazine Publishers of America digital awards, a Webby award, and Min's 2011 Best of the Web Awards. He holds a bachelor's degree in drama and German from the University of London and a master's degree in film from Columbia University.
