Having become a favourite of the boutique fitness set the brand’s founder and chief executive sets sights on global expansion.

Danny Harris is the founder and chief executive officer of Alo Yoga, a brand whose wellness-centric approach to athleisure has made it a favourite of the boutique fitness set, celebrities like Taylor Swift, Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid , and, increasingly, the mainstream consumer.

Alo — which stands for air, land and ocean — was founded in 2007 by close friends Harris and Marco DeGeorge, who remain co-owners and co-CEOs. Both had found solace in yoga in coping with different ailments — DeGeorge was recovering from a back injury, Harris was dealing with anxiety. Even then, wellness was already a trend in fashion, and Alo’s rise helped cement the connection, purporting the “studio to street” lifestyle and Los Angeles-centric approach to yoga culture.

It further deepened its fashion ties by presenting a ski collection showcased at New York Fashion Week and serving as the event’s official “wellness partner.” In late 2025, Alo also made it's debut into the luxury accessories market with a collection of Italian-made leather handbags priced up to $3,600 (£2,850 approx.), framed under the campaign “Luxury is Wellness.”

In 2020, the brand had grown to $200 million in sales. 5 years later, Alo ships to 128 nations and operates over 200 stores across 26 countries, having recently expanded into Europe with stores in Dublin and Amsterdam, as well as launched a six-storey flagship in Seoul, Korea, equipped with a rooftop retreat and wellness club.

Harris was named as one of the Global Fitness 100 by Gym Revival for 2025, recognised for his role in transforming an activewear label into a multi-dimensional wellness platform valued at an estimated $10 billion.
