Chadatip Chutrakul

Director & Chief Executive, Siam Piwat

As one of Thailand’s top retail and property developers, she has been a catalyst for advancing luxury shopping destinations in the Southeast Asian hub.

Chadatip Chutrakul

As the owner and chief executive of retail company Siam Piwat, Chutrakul leads the management and operations of Bangkok’s best-known and most prestigious commercial landmarks. Under her leadership, Siam Piwat has focused on inventive and original ventures that have earned the company international recognition and regional acclaim. Since her appointment to the role in 2009, Siam Piwat has grown rapidly, establishing more than 20 subsidiary companies across retail development, facility management and marketing communications.

Chutrakul graduated from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok in 1982 with a degree in banking and finance. After working abroad for a few years, she returned to Thailand and joined the family business in 1986, initially working in accounting, before moving over to sales and promotion. Despite being the youngest of three children, she was groomed to take over the company, and took the helm upon her father’s death in 2009.

Chutrakul is the visionary and driving force behind Iconsiam, the impressive mega complex project on the River of Kings that will include 5.5 million square feet of retail space alongside residential apartments, a museum and theatre, conference facilities, and docks for private yachts and river cruises. At $1.57 billion, it is reportedly the largest privately funded project in Thai history.

Other retail destinations in the Siam Piwat portfolio include Siam Center, Siam Discovery Center, Paradise Park and Siam Paragon. The latter houses the likes of Dior, Hermes, Loewe, Chanel, Cartier, Burberry, Celine and Balenciaga.

In May 2019, Chutrakul was one of four industry leaders to be inducted into the World Retail Hall of Fame for her. The World Retail Congress also awarded Iconsiam Store Design of the Year 2019.

Chutrakul was named among Forbes Asia's Power Businesswomen in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She is married to Apichart Chutrakul, founder and chief executive of real estate company Sansiri and has one daughter.
