Carlos Nazario
Style Director at Large, Harper’s Bazaar
The New York-based industry all-rounder has been a fashion editor, stylist and creative consultant, working with the likes of Rihanna, Lizzo and Solange.

Carlos Nazario is the style director at large of Harper's Bazaar, a contributing editor at American Vogue and the fashion director of Hood by Air, with a stylist career defined by his layered understanding of design, niche markets and culture.
When the Queens, New York-raised Nazario decided to become a stylist, he packed his bags and left for Paris. Nazario connected with photographers on Craigslist to get experience doing test shots, then returned to New York and snagged a job as an intern at W. After internships at Marc Jacobs and Katie Grand ’s Love, he landed a job with Joe McKenna , who had styled campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch and Calvin Klein . The next step was to branch out on his own — first outside the fashion establishment, working with photographers like Oliver Hadlee and hair stylists like Jawara.
Today, recognised by the CFDA as a key shaper of the industry, he has styled names including Rihanna, Solange, Zoe Kravitz, Bella Hadid , Naomi Campbell , and collaborated with photographers like Alasdair McLellan , Mert Alas, Marcus Piggott and Mario Sorrenti . Notably, he put US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the cover of Vanity Fair in a look by a Black designer from her district, and Naomi Campbell in Dior couture for the November cover of Vogue in 2021. Nazario counts Lanvin, Burberry, Ambush, Michael Kors , Zara and Nike as clients. Nazario was the first Black stylist to style a cover for American Vogue. He has also styled the covers of Italian Vogue, T:The New York TImes Style Magazine, i-D, M Le monde, L’uomo Vogue and W.
