As president and chief executive of Iguatemi Empresa de Shopping Centers SA, Carlos Jereissati Filho oversees the activities of one of the largest shopping mall companies in Brazil, operating a total of 17 prominent establishments around the country such as the Iguatemi Campinas, Iguatemi Porto Alegre and the Galleria Mall.

Appointed to the role in 2005, Jereissati has played a strategic role in positioning the Iguatemi outlets as centres for luxury shopping within Brazil. Along with being the first to introduce VIP concierge services and personal shopping, the company was the first to acquire licences to host stores for brands such as Burberry and Tiffany’s. In 2012, the opening of the JK Iguatemi mall in São Paulo also saw the launch of the first Lanvin, Tory Burch , Prada and Saint Laurent stores in the country. Jereissati also operates three other popular outlets in São Paulo, including the Iguatemi São Paulo, which boasts the highest revenue generation per square metre. Jerresseti also support local talent, stocking domestic brands such as Pedro Lourenço and Antonio Barnardo, and has previously sponsored São Paulo Fashion Week.

Jerrissati began his career in 1994 as marketing officer for Jereissati Participações SA, the parent company of Iguatemi Empresa. In 1996, Jereissati became the general manager of the Praia de Belas Shopping Centre in Porto Alegre, rising to superintendent officer and chief operations officer before being appointed as chief executive. In 2007, Jereissati was elected as a director of the board of Iguatemi Empresa and in April 2013, the Brazilian executive was made vice chairman of the board.

Jerresseti holds a BBA from the Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo and a postgraduate honour from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Along with holding a number of additional directorships (TmarPart, La Fonte Telecom SA and CTX Participações SA), Jerresetti is a member of the Brazil Volunteer Association and the International Council of Shopping Centres and previously served as a member of the Brazilian Economic and Social Development Council. The businessman was honoured as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2007.
