Anthony Tantoco Huang
President & Chief Executive, SSI Group
After unifying his family’s luxury and fashion assets, the executive established himself as one of the Philippines' most powerful retail moguls.

Anthony “Anton” Tantoco Huang is the president and chief executive of both SSI Group — the publicly listed arm of the Rustan Group of Companies — and Rustan Commercial Corporation. Huang sits at the helm of one of the Philippines’ most prominent family-owned retail conglomerates, overseeing an empire of joint ventures with dozens of brands, among them Balenciaga, Hermès, Cartier, Coach, Zara and JD Sports. By 2025, Rustan Commercial Corporation operated five upmarket department stores under the name Rustan’s and two Adora multi-brand stores.
Born into the Tantoco family, whose legacy in the Filipino retail sector dates back to the 1950s, Huang has brought the work of his mother, Zenaida Tantoco, and his grandparents, Bienvenido Tantoco Sr. and Gliceria Rustia-Tantoco, into the digital age. In aggressively expanding SSI’s brand portfolio, he has cemented his standing as a powerhouse in his own right. Under his leadership, SSI acquired a majority stake in Rustan Marketing Corp (RMK) in 2025 — a deal that consolidated some of the family’s assets. Huang was responsible for launching Trunc, SSI’s e-commerce platform bringing luxury names like Loewe and Bottega Veneta online for Filipino shoppers.
Huang began working for the family business while in college and was appointed executive vice president of SSI in 1994. In 2015, he was awarded France’s Chevalier dans l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur, and in 2017, he was named Cavaliere dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana in Italy. He has a humanities degree from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
