Anna Wintour
Global Editorial Director, Vogue & Chief Content Officer, Condé Nast
The ultimate editor and industry powerbroker has led the world’s most influential fashion magazine for decades and is Condé Nast’s chief content officer.

Dame Anna Wintour, global editorial director of Vogue and the chief content officer of Condé Nast, is widely regarded as the most influential figure in fashion. After 37 years as the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, Wintour transitioned in June 2025 to focus on her global mandates, overseeing the strategic direction of the entire Condé Nast portfolio while mentoring the next generation of leadership, including the newly appointed head of editorial content for Vogue, Chloe Malle.
American Vogue reaches over 12 million readers in print and an average of 1.2 million monthly visitors online. Wintour is arguably the most commercially minded editor in the industry's history, having parlayed the magazine’s position as a documenter and badge of acceptance into a commercial powerhouse. Throughout her tenure, she spearheaded the practice of featuring celebrities on the cover, championed new American designers through the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and launched global initiative, Vogue World.
The British-born editor’s career began in 1960s London, which she credits with fostering her love for fashion’s revolutionary power. After early roles at Harper’s & Queen and New York Magazine, she became the creative director of Vogue under Alex Liberman, followed by a stint as editor-in-chief of British Vogue (1985–1987). She took over Vogue in 1988; her first cover—a street shot of a model in jeans and a Lacroix couture sweater—declared a new, modern chapter in fashion history.
Today, Wintour remains a trustee of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, where her involvement turned the annual gala into “fashion's biggest night out.” The Costume department was renamed the Anna Wintour Costume Institute in 2014. In 2025, her contributions were recognised with two of the highest civilian honours in the US and UK: the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Order of the Companions of Honour. Wintour, who has two children, continues to lead the industry from her base in New York, notably co-chairing the 2026 Met Gala with Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams.
