As the director of Google Arts & Culture, Amit Sood leads Google’s efforts to make culture accessible online to everyone. While working with Google’s android team, Sood’s passion for art led him to initiate a project to bring museums onto the web, which they launched in 2011. Currently, Sood’s team serves as an innovation partner for cultural institutions, offering technologies that help preserve and share culture as well as allow curators to host exhibitions using state of the art technology. The Google Arts & Culture app puts over a thousand museums at people’s finger tips for free on the web, on iOS and Android.
Before joining Google, Sood worked for Ericsson and DHL as well as non-profit organisations in Europe and India. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and a graduate degree in commerce from Sydenham College, Mumbai.
