Financier and philanthropist Amed Khan’s work includes political campaigns, government service and international relief work across public and private sectors. Kahn visited Greece at the start of the recent refugee crisis, and appalled at the conditions, filed a formal petition with the Greek Ministry of Migration, asking for control of one of the old warehouses that they had set aside for housing refugees. The renovated space, entitled Elpida — which means hope in Greek — opened to 160 people in July 2016.
