Alvaro Barrington was born in Grenada and grew up between the Caribbean and New York. The London-based artist explores this heritage in his work, focusing on themes of migration, memory and hip-hop culture. Primarily a painter, Barrington uses found objects, sewn yarn and postcards to create mixed-media pieces. He has degrees from Hunter College in New York and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Recent highlights include “Grace”, a major Tate Britain Commission (2024), and “Come Home” at Art Basel Parcours (2024).
