Carlijn Jacobs

Carlijn Jacobs is a celebrated photographer and visual artist known for her striking work that blurs the line between art and commerce and plays with the viewer’s perception of reality. Her distinctive, surrealist vision and innovative approach have led to collaborations with brands including Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Loewe and Mugler as well as publications including Vogue, Dazed, AnOther, Pop and M le Monde. 

Jacobs studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where her early exploration of mass culture through photography gained her critical recognition. Her distinctive style, characterised by a witty and surreal approach, quickly set her apart. Jacobs' first solo exhibition, "Sleeping Beauty," opened at Foam Amsterdam in 2023, accompanied by a book of the same name. 

Over the course of her career, Carlijn Jacobs has worked with an impressive roster of editorial and commercial clients, including Vogue, W Magazine, Prada, Chanel and Gucci. One of her most notable achievements is her work on Beyoncé's Renaissance album artwork — which T Magazine called one of the 25 photos that defined the modern age. Jacobs' work has helped to redefine the visual language of the industry.
