HEAD – Genève, Geneva School of Art and Design, was formed in 2006 from the merger of two art schools, the Ecole supérieure des beaux-arts and the Haute école d’arts appliqués, both over two hundred years old.
Urban and international, it welcomes over 700 students from 40 different countries and offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in fine arts, cinema, spatial design, graphic and media design, fashion, jewellery, watch and accessory design.
At the crossroads between design and art, science and new technologies, the Bachelor’s course in Fashion Design offers students an educational network of practical transversal training.
Among its main focuses are the influence of contemporary culture and sociological change on fashion aesthetics, as well as international partnerships with leading fashion universities and famous designers. At the same time, since fashion design is a rich and complex global industrial sector, the course aims to give students the reflective tools they need in order to understand its codes.
The aim of the Master programme is to train designers capable of providing new aesthetic impulses, whether running their own clothing, accessory or jewellery brands or as artistic directors of established firms.
Knowledge of products and technical skills will give designers an overall mastery of design, production and distribution processes. In today's globalized markets, creativity has become a crucial means of cpmetitive differentiation and success. The course trains designers for senior positions in the fashion and accessory sector. It trains innovative creators who can provide a new aesthetic impulse either as self-employed designers with brands or their own or as artistic directors working for established brands.
