Federica Marchionni will take the reins at the forum for sustainability in fashion on June 1 with the goal of accelerating growth through advancing the organisation’s forums (including Copenhagen Fashion Summit), publications and advocacy initiatives. Though she began her career in telecommunications, Marchionni has years of leadership experience in the global fashion industry, including roles at Lands End and Dolce & Gabbana. Most recently, she served as chief executive of the Chinese e-commerce platform Secoo.

Marchionni succeeds Eva Kruse, who founded the advocacy group 15 years ago. Kruse joined sustainable apparel brand Pangaia as vice president of brand and impact in February 2021.

“The industry must act now, and bold decisions are needed to repurpose business models in order to create a prosperous industry,” Marchionni said in a statement.
