Hair stylist Jawara has been appointed senior beauty editor at large, while stylists Lotta Volkova and Sydney Rose Thomas will take on the roles of senior fashion editors at large. All appointments are effective immediately.

The new hires are part of i-D’s efforts to double down on its global strategy and expand its international team.

Jawara, who is based between London and New York, will help lead i-D’s beauty strategy on quarterly issues, in addition to special projects. Over the last decade, Jawara has gained acclaim for his sculptural approach to hair styling and has previously worked with the likes of Cardi B and Solange as well as Gucci, Calvin Klein and Chanel.

Volkova and Thomas will both be in charge of producing fashion shoots and contributing to editorial concepts for i-D’s print issues and online channels. Volkova, who is based in Paris, has worked closely with designers like Vetements’ Gosha Rubchinskiy, Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia and creatives such as Harley Weir and Juergen Teller. Thomas, who is New York-based, counts Wall Street Journal, Saint Laurent and Supreme among her past clients.

“Since its inception over 40 years ago i-D has been the incubator for the best talent in the fashion industry. I’m honoured to add to that legacy with our extraordinary new team members. Jawara, Lotta and Sydney will bring their own singular visions to i-D’s rich and storied DNA,” i-D editor-in-chief and creative director Alastair McKimm said in a statement.
