Chloé’s chief sustainability officer, Aude Vergne, is leaving the company after nearly a decade at the Richemont-owned brand.
During her tenure, Chloé became the first major European luxury label to become BCorp certified. Vergne announced her departure from the company via Linkedin last week. Chloé did not respond to a request for comment.
Vergne joined Chloé in 2016. She became its chief sustainability officer in 2021, when former CEO Riccardo Bellini and creative director Gabriela Hearst were pushing sustainability as a central pillar of the French brand’s identity.
Under Vergne, Chloé accelerated its adoption of materials with a lower environmental impact, partnered with more Fair Trade certified suppliers, and made commitments to promote women’s equality. In 2022, the brand also developed a new open-source tool for monitoring social impact. This aimed to help brands measure their performance on issues like gender equality, living wages and diversity and inclusion.
