Archive, a resale platform that helps brands set up their own resale programmes, has raised $30 million in Series B funding, the company announced Tuesday.
The capital will go toward developing product innovations such as its resale intelligence software, recruiting new talent and scaling the platform, Archive said. The round was led by Energize Capital, with participation from Woodline Partners and Frontline Growth, as well as returning investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Bain Capital Ventures.
Archive is among a number of business-to-business resale services that emerged in recent years as brands scramble to join the burgeoning secondhand market. Building resale capabilities can be expensive and difficult to operate profitably. Services like Archive and its competitors Trove, Treet and Recurate allow brands to set up their own pre-owned sales channels and immediately tap into a new revenue stream. Archive partner Faherty was able to generate more than $1 million in resale revenue within its first year of launch, for instance.
Looking ahead, Archive clients estimate that resale could account for 10 percent or more of total sales, with higher margins than full-price, the company said.
