LOS ANGELES, United States — American Apparel Inc. director Robert Mintz has resigned from the retailer's board, according to two people familiar with the situation.

Mintz, a former food-company executive, joined the board last year. He was named to the board by Lion Capital, which had the right to appoint two directors because of stock warrants it holds.

Liz Cohen, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles-based company, declined to comment.
