Huasheng Media has appointed media veteran and sustainability expert Shaway Yeh as editor at large of the Chinese edition of T Magazine, The New York Times’ style magazine.

Feng Chuxuan, the publisher’s founder and chief executive, said the partnership with Yeh will help widen the group’s footprint beyond China, particularly in Europe and Southeast Asia. Yeh explained that her wider role at the group will be to “integrate creativity with purposeful innovation in a globally relevant context” through content-led projects.

Yeh is the former group style editorial director at Modern Media Group (since rebranded as Meta Media Holdings), where she transformed flagship title Modern Weekly into an edgy highbrow magazine with a mass following and co-led the group’s joint venture with UK-based Dazed Media, launching the Chinese edition of Nowness.

In 2017, Yeh founded Yehyehyeh, an agency that develops ESG strategies for clients such as Kering, Woolmark Company, Erdos and Shanghai Fashion Week. After being appointed special adviser to the Global Fashion Agenda, Yeh launched the Shan Future Forum, a Shanghai event featuring executives from companies including Alibaba’s Taobao and Tmall Group.

Having earned Harvard’s Corporate Sustainability and Innovation Graduate Certificate in 2019, Yeh cemented her status as a leader of the sustainable innovation movement in Asia. Last year, she spearheaded the Sustasia Fashion Prize, a competition for designers using next-gen materials, with a jury composed of executives from the likes of LVMH and the Earthshot Prize.

In addition to T Magazine China, Huasheng Media publishes the Chinese editions of Wallpaper, Another Man and Nylon, among others.
