NEW YORK, United States — Aeropostale Inc. on Thursday reported a loss of $45.3 million in its fiscal first quarter.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had a loss of 57 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 56 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 54 cents per share.
The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $318.6 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $325.3 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $2.56. A year ago, they were trading at $4.44.
