Agenda-setting intelligence, analysis and advice for the global fashion community.
China Fashion Week wrapped up in Beijing on Monday following an 11 day programme with 88 shows and 14 forums and trade shows, featuring 314 designers.
Chinese aesthetics and traditional culture were the biggest focus of this season. Designer brands such as Heaven Gaia and Damowang respectively showcased traditional Chinese craftsmanship and martial arts culture. Many designers also referenced and reinterpreted the costumes and crafts of China’s ethnic minorities.
Many brands, including Demainz and Mijia J11, utilised natural materials, natural processes, innovative fabrics, and recycling, in keeping with the focus on sustainability initiated by China Fashion Week organisers, who also held an exhibition on sustainable design and two forums on related topics as part of the event.
