Angelica Cheung Takes on Strategic Advisory Role for Zegna

The founding chief editor of Vogue China will take on a strategic advisory role with Italian luxury menswear group, Ermengildo Zegna, in order to help them steer a course in the China and Asia markets, Angelica Cheung has confirmed to The Business of Fashion.

Cheung will perform this role in conjunction with her full-time position as venture partner at Sequoia Capital’s China branch, which was announced in February.

There are few people better placed to advise luxury fashion groups on the China market, as Cheung is one of the sector’s heavyweights following 16 years at the helm of Vogue China. Though many luxury brands are increasingly focused on sales in the China market, Zegna, a pioneer of the men’s luxury market in the region, is particularly dependent on China, which accounts for around 40 percent of the group’s sales.

“I have known Gildo Zegna for a long time and I have always been impressed by his energy and passion for his brand. He invited me to help in a more formal way and I said yes. I hope I can help by offering my perspectives on the changing market, especially with China,” Cheung said.

Cheung announced her departure from Vogue China in November last year and her successor, Australian-Chinese multi-hyphenate, Margaret Zhang, was confirmed last month.
