Unilever India Acquires Indian Beauty Brand Minimalist

Hindustan Unilever, the conglomerate’s Indian division, has taken a majority stake in the premium beauty brand.

Hindustan Unilever, the India unit of the global personal care conglomerate, announced on Wednesday that it will acquire a majority stake in Minimalist, the Indian premium beauty brand. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hindustan Unilever has taken a 90.5 percent stake in the company and will progress to full ownership within two years.

Rohit Jawa, chief executive and managing director at Hindustan Unilever, said in a statement that the acquisition will augment the company’s nascent beauty and wellbeing portfolio. The brand offers a variety of skin, hair and body care formulations with high-tech ingredients and understated packaging.

Founded in 2020 by Mohit Yadav and Rahul Yadav, the brand netted revenues of INR 500 crore ($57.8 million) in 2024, and was reportedly valued at $342.3 million.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by June 2025.
