The global fashion industry was left stunned last week after President Donald Trump announced the highest and most comprehensive tariffs in nearly a century, with the most severe levies reserved for some of the biggest apparel manufacturing hubs.

In our latest Executive Memo, An Action Plan for Navigating Trump’s Tariffs,” senior correspondent Marc Bain outlined how fashion executives can protect their companies, both in the short term, as they adjust to the immediate effects, and also for the long term.

To continue the conversation, we will be hosting our first Executive Roundtable for Executive Members on Wednesday, May 7 at Hotel Chelsea, New York. Join senior correspondents Marc Bain and Sheena Butler-Young, along with executive editor Brian Baskin for an informal breakfast discussing Fashion in the Trump Era, including:

  • An exploration of the ways tariffs are reshaping fashion’s supply chain and consumer behaviour.
  • Strategies companies of all sizes are deploying to minimise the impact of Trump’s trade war.
  • How fashion is adapting to, and in some cases pushing back against, a rightward cultural shift and the Trump administration’s anti-DEI campaign.

Hosted for Executive Members, Executive Roundtables provide opportunities to connect and collaborate with BoF journalists and senior leaders from the wider BoF community at intimate thought-leadership events in New York, London, Paris and Milan. Become an Executive Member now to sign up for this event.

*Please note the sign-up link and further details for this event will be included in your onboarding email after you join as an Executive Member.
