Job Details
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
This position is responsible for creating, contributing, and collaborating on original artwork to be used for seasonal print and pattern collections. This role provides a trend-relevant artistic point of view for the brand, as well as executing on technical print and pattern packages for our cross-functional partners and vendors.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drives, collaborates, translates, and develops seasonal prints, patterns, and color development from concept to execution using Adobe Creative Suite, NED Graphics and hand-painting and sketching skills.
• Creates new and/or manipulates existing prints, patterns, and colorways for various mediums within specific timelines.
• Builds out, support and executes brand appropriate artwork for each seasonal product classification.
• Collaborates with Trend, Concept and Design on creating specific artwork and/or color combinations as it relates to seasonal color palette and direction.
• Maintains an acute awareness of fashion trends and direction as it relates to print, pattern, and fabrics, and how it relates to silhouette.
• Engages and communicates cross-functionally with design partners to create and develop pattern work specific to their areas in keeping with the seasonal mood and direction.
• Ensures that project deliverables are executed in a timely manner and in alignment of overall corporate T & A calendar and internal Trend and CAD team department deadlines.
• Proactively collaborates and communicates daily with cross functional team members as it relates to the T&A and the design and execution of the product.
• Develop a keen an understanding of brands visual DNA, use of print, pattern, and color combinations to contribute ideas, techniques and overall artistic elements with both brand and trend relevance.
• Provides support and back-up to CAD team as needed.
This position may be found in multiple departments. Some duties may vary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Fashion, Textiles or Surface Pattern Design or related field
• 3-5 years of relevant design experience, some or all specific to print, pattern, textile design in apparel, accessories, and/or intimates
• Experience in creating print and pattern CAD Development/Design, using both hand techniques such as painting and drawing and/or digital medium that defines a brand
• Knowledge of print repeats, color separations and an understanding of technical of bulk production requirements and vendor restrictions
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, creative problem solver
• Has the ability to work independently, as well as with a team; and can form partnerships, collaborate, influence and drive change
• Strong design and conceptual skills, strong sense of style and color
• Communication, organization, and follow-up skills are essential
• Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop and Illustrator
• Highly proficient in NED Graphics
• Must be skilled at hand-drawing, watercolor painting and familiar with developing original artwork by hand.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
