Accounting Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE: The Manager Accounting position reports to the Controller/CFO. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, financial reporting, month-end close activities, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned.   RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information. Responsible for performing monthly close activities including journal entries, balance sheet accounts reconciliations and analytical reviews. Maintain fixed asset register. Maintain and reconcile bank accounts. Research and reconcile all discrepancies in the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations. Perform periodic internal audits of inventory and fixed assets. Perform and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and processes and recommend improvements. Maintain proper financial records retention policies. Conduct financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis. Provide external accountants with necessary data to complete the year end closing process. Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable analysts in performing their functions. Ensure complete and accurate accounting of day to day operations in accordance with GAAP. Participate in Budgeting and monthly rolling forecasting of revenues and expenses. Always ensure General Ledger integrity by understanding how the ERP functions.       REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business. Minor in Computer Sciences is welcomed. 4-6+ years experience Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite knowledge Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations Able to analyze financial records and interpret for other departments Excellent written and verbal communication skills
