Assistant Designer

Responsibilities

• Assist in concept and research development for seasonal deliveries
• Assist in print and color research, print development, and print recoloring each season
• Update line sheets and facilitate work flow as needed
• Assist in developing CAD illustrations for artwork and re-coloration as needed
• Create flat digital sketches for all line sheets, board, and tech packs
• Attend fittings and take fit notes for tech designer and team records
• Organize and keep up to date team fabric library
• Update and maintain seasonal color development and sketch binders
• Research new shapes and details to bring to the Sr Designer and Creative Director for fabric groups. Sketch into new bodies and shapes
• Launch trials with factories for new fabric details, embroidery layouts, etc
• Attend photoshoots, helping to hang and steam product, dress models, style collection, and make sure everything is organized and running smoothly
• Any additional project or task any department head may have

Qualifications/Experience

• Must have a minimum two-year AAS or College degree in Design. 4 year program graduates preferred.
• Must have related internship or assistant designer experience.
• Must have excellent working knowledge of CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop and Excel.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in both written and verbal communication.
• Must be a team player, have ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines and take initiative.
• Strong understanding of print and color is a must.
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet all objectives and allow the various initiatives of the Design department to be accomplished in a timely manner.
• Must be detail oriented individual and a strong self-starter.
• Must be able to take direction. This position requires incumbent to establish effective work relationships across multiple levels and functions. Must be willing to help any team with any project, at any time, as we are a very small company. Everyone wears many hats.
• Ability to work under pressure in an environment of constant shifting priorities and change.
