LONDON, United Kingdom — As the rush of New York Fashion Week swirled around us, BoF offered a moment of calm and reflection on Monday evening at New York's Neuehouse.

Following their runway show the night before, which featured a larger-than-life wall of dripping chocolate, I sat down with Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, co-founders of Opening Ceremony, for the latest in our series of #BoFLive talks, in-depth conversations with leaders and innovators from across the global fashion industry.

Looking back on the talk, now, what strikes me the most is how their success has been built on partnerships, not just their own, but also a number of partnerships with brands and creative collaborators from a connected community around the world which played a major role in enabling Carol and Humberto to create an innovative, high-low retail concept that has sustained and, indeed, grown its cool factor over time.

The sixty minute discussion, which was streamed live on BoF, is well worth a weekend viewing. You'll feel both inspired and educated by the story of how Carol and Humberto built their business from a scratch with an initial investment of only $10,000 and a line of credit.
