ANTALYA, Turkey — This week I write to you from the Mediterranean coastline of southwestern Turkey, where the major advertising group WPP is hosting an "un-conference," called WPP Stream, bringing together some of the most interesting minds from the worlds of media and technology.

Antalya is pretty far removed from the fashion world, but that doesn't mean I haven't been staying on top of this week's industry news. Indeed, it seems that, as the weeks go by, there are more and more power moves being made at the very top of the fashion industry. First, it was Marc Jacobs' departure from Louis Vuitton, then Angela Ahrendts' exit from Burberry, and now this week's news that Jil Sander will be leaving her namesake brand for the third time in just over a decade.

What the future holds for the Jil Sander brand remains to be seen. But having secured the return of the founding designer — who, in February 2012, replaced Raf Simons, the brand's creative director since 2005 — Jil Sander chief executive Alessandro Cremonesi must be wondering where to go next and who might be the right candidate to step into Ms Sander's shoes. The next appointment is a crucial one and may need to be made quickly, especially as Ms Sander has already designed and presented her last collection for the brand for Spring/Summer 2014.

Stella & Dot is one of those businesses I'd heard a lot about, but that I didn't really get to know until I spoke to my sister about it. As it turns out, she is hosting a Stella & Dot event for charity in Vancouver this weekend and donating the commissions from the sales she makes selling Stella & Dot products to a worthy cause. Indeed, a total of 14,000 sellers have helped to drive the success of this next-generation direct sales business, estimated to turn over more than $200 million per year. In our latest Founder Stories interview, Vikram Alexei Kansara got the lowdown from founder and CEO Jessica Herrin on the company she started to empower female entrepreneurs.

Belgium and Japan are both critical sources of creativity for the global fashion industry and have given rise to designers like Martin Margiela and Dries van Noten, and Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo, respectively. However, having laid the foundations of a strong fashion culture, both countries are facing challenges engaging the global fashion community, not because they lack talent, but because they have not found their voice in a noisy world where clear and strategic communication is more critical than ever before. Susanna Lau checked in from Japan Fashion Week and I shared my findings from a recent trip to Antwerp, which remains one of the coolest places in the world for fashion fans to visit, highly recommended for an inspiring weekend.

Stateside, we examined a fashion ecosystem of a completely different kind in Dallas, Texas, better known for its cowboy hats and oil tycoons. But as it turns out, Dallas has a strong love of fashion and in the city's downtown, a newly fashionable retail neighbourhood is rising.

And, as always we met with interesting creative forces behind the scenes in fashion. This week, it was the charming and fascinating Pamela Golbin, chief curator of the Musée de la Mode et du Textile in Paris.

What could next week bring in the fast-changing landscape of the business of fashion? Who knows, but based on recent weeks, it could be something big. See you next week.
