NEW YORK, United States — Raf Simons is to show his Autumn/Winter 2017 Men's Collection at New York Fashion Week: Men's. The show, which will take place on February 1 next year, will be the first time the designer is presenting his namesake collection in New York, having shown at Paris Men's Fashion Week since 1997 and at Florence's Pitti Uomo in June.
Simons' move represents a positive turn of events for the CFDA, which has struggled to attract major labels to the event. The past year has seen increasing numbers of brands, such as Rag & Bone, elect to show their men's and women's collections together, either off-schedule or on the women's schedule, while other American labels, including Ralph Lauren, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thom Browne and Calvin Klein, choose to show overseas.
Steven Kolb, chief executive of the CFDA, says he is excited to welcome Simons to New York Fashion Week: Men's schedule. "Raf will bring a new level of creativity and energy to New York Fashion Week: Men's and we are excited to have him join this important platform for American menswear," he told BoF.
