Julianne Moore to Receive Inaugural Franca Sozzani Award at Venice Film Festival

MILAN, Italy — Actress Julianne Moore is to receive the inaugural Franca Sozzani Award at the Venice Film Festival this September.

The award was founded as a tribute to the late Vogue Italia editor-in-chief, who passed away in December 2016. It will be presented to Moore by actor Colin Firth at the Lido, where last year Sozzani's son, Francesco Carrozzini, premiered his documentary, "Franca: Chaos and Creation".

The Franca Sozzani Award board comprises of some of the most influential names within the Italian fashion and film industries, among them Donatella Versace, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana president Carlo Capasa, Tod's CEO Diego Della Valle, Condé Nast Italia president Giampaolo Grandi, Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini, Marco and Afef Tronchetti Provera, and Taodue Film CEO Pietro Valsecchi.

Completing the impressive roll call are Carrozzini, as well as Sozzani's sister and 10 Corso Como owner Carla Sozzani, and Vogue Italia senior editor and Sozzani's niece, Sara Sozzani Maino.

In a press release, the board described Moore as having "the same strength and determination of Franca, combined with excellence in art and a strong civil and social commitment."
