MILAN, Italy — Alessandra Carra will take up the role of chief executive at Italian womenswear brand Agnona in May, the company has announced. Carra will exit her current role as chief executive of Emilio Pucci at the end of March.

"Alessandra Carra, I believe, will be strategically involved in developing the unique potential of Agnona as one of the brands leading the luxury worldwide market," said Gildo Zegna, chief executive of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, Agnona's parent company, in a statement. Carra succeeds Bruno LaGuardia, who has been appointed to Agnona's board of directors and will support Carra in an advisory capacity.

Carra oversaw a period of expansion at Emilio Pucci, which its parent company, LVMH, had identified as a brand with growth potential, announcing plans for product category expansion and a global store rollout. At Agnona, growth will again be on the agenda. The Ermenegildo Zegna Group which took control of the sixty-year-old company, traditionally known for its cashmere, in 1999, has made significant investments in developing its brand. In addition to signing Stefano Pilati (also head of design at Ermenegildo Zegna) as creative director, Agnona has expanded into new product categories, including leather goods and footwear. Agnona has also inked a licensing deal with Marcolin Group to produce luxury eyewear.

Prior to taking the reigns at Emilio Pucci in 2011, Carra has also held roles at Polo Ralph LaurenValentino, Trussadi and Levi Strauss Group.

At Pucci, vice president and image director Laudomia Pucci has become interim chief executive.
