NEW YORK, United States — After five headline-grabbing seasons at New York Fashion Week, Kanye West appears to be sitting this one out.

An email sent Wednesday by a representative for Redken, the beauty brand due to work on the show originally scheduled for September 13, said the presentation had been cancelled.

Representatives for Kanye West and Adidas did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.

Kanye West debuted the Adidas-backed Yeezy brand in February 2015, and his forthcoming collections of minimalist streetwear presented on a diverse range of models garnered critical approval. (Season 4, presented on a very hot and logistically challenged day at Roosevelt Island last autumn, was an exception.) Commercially, the pieces were resonating with a growing number of customers. A source from West's camp told BoF in February 2017 that wholesale orders for Season 4 were the largest to date.

Update, Wednesday September 7, 2017: Adidas has issued a statement addressing reports of a show cancellation. It reads: "No announcements regarding a Yeezy Season 6 presentation have been made by West Brands, Kanye West, or Adidas. Any information being reported at this time is merely speculation."
